This capsule uses the cardioid polar pattern, which points in one direction and is ideal for a number of specific applications when combined with the preamplifier stage.
If you use a pair, they can be used as drum overheads. Just place each Beta 182 complete mic equidistance from your snare on the left and right of your kit.
Acoustic instruments sound clear and natural using this pickup pattern. And use a pair to capture the sound of a piano in stereo, placing them close to its strings on either end.
