Key Features
Double trouble. The Electro Harmonix Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi Distortion & Overdrive gives you independent control over rich overdrive and fuzzy distortion, even letting you stack them together for truly mammoth tones. This comes as the result of a focused modern design dripping with EHX analog heritage- old meets new. The Overdrive/Distortion split is represented in the design with each getting half of the enclosure and the graphic showing the divide, this makes it super easy to navigate and control. Both sides have Volume, Gain and Bias but whereas the final knob for overdrive is a simple tone control, for distortion it is 'Volts' which when lowered imitates a dying battery spluttering effect. This is an exceptionally unique feature that serves only to complement the rest of this remarkably versatile pedal.

An independent overdrive and distortion each have their own sets of two germanium transistors as well as independent controls. The ability to stack and use both the overdrive and distortion together delivers the power of a four germanium transistor circuit with ultimate control flexibility. Go from virtually transparent overdrive to aggressive, sludgy tones where you can practically hear the saturation spilling over the edges. You'll be hard pressed to find a more versatile OD/Distortion pedal.
This is not your typical Big Muff circuit. Ditching the traditional silicone transistors, germanium has a more natural timbre that lends a rich voicing to overdrive and distortion. The circuit is comprised of two independent designs Bob Myer created fused into a single pedal. Optimised to thrive when engaged together, it's easy to unlock huge distorted tones. Tweakability is a big factor on this pedal- it's versatility lets it access a wide range of tones, from vintage saturation, through to unhinged fuzzy distortion. The distortion side gates, note trails, and fuzzes out like the classics and lets you stray close to classic Muff tones, while never veering from its own distinct sound.
