The collaboration between Ibanez and legendary bassist Gerald Veasley has resulted in a line of exceptionally versatile basses, offering an incredibly comfortable performance and excellent tonal control. Gerald Veasley is widely known for his varied and impressive resume, working with such artists as Joe Zawinul of Weather Report, the late Grover Washington Jr., McCoy Tyner, The Dixie Hummingbirds, Odean Pope, and many more. This extensive career resulted in a very versatile playing style, and the signature Ibanez bass is a reflection of Gerald’s stunning capabilities.
The Ibanez GVB36’s body is crafted from lightweight alder topped with stunning flamed maple, creating a truly eye-catching aesthetic which is only enhanced by its amber finish. The combination of the alder and maple produces a beautifully balanced and resonant tone, with plenty of clarity and midrange bite ideal for the versatile musician. The alder tonewood provides a decent amount of sustain, creating bright, sizzling highs, beautifully rounded lows, and a beefy midrange. Its balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing.
This stunning Signature Ibanez Bass features a maple neck designed for comfort, delivering an incredible performance suitable to a wide variety of playing styles. The maple tonewood provides the Fender with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tones and delivering plenty of cut and bite. The neck is paired with a jatoba fingerboard which enhances the overall projection, offering a strong, hard character to add extra punch and a subtle amount of brightness.
This Signature Ibanez Bass is equipped with a set of Bartolini MK1 pickups, which feature a split coil design to deliver a wide frequency range with excellent definition and superb accuracy. Both pickups offer an incredible response, like traditional single-coils, but without any unwanted hum and noise for the ultimate performance.
Included on Gerald Veasley’s Signature Ibanez is a powerful EQB-IIISP EQ section, featuring bass, mid, and treble controls along with a master volume and balancer, providing the maximum control over shaping and crafting the tone of your guitar. The EQ section offers a wide frequency range to boost or cut, allowing you to mould every nuance of your sound to create the perfect sound for your playing.
coupled with the EQ’s mid control is a push/pull frequency select switch, offering players the choice between 250Hz of 600Hz for creating even more dynamic and ideal tones for different situations.
