A delight for finger drummers in Eurorack format, Four Bricks Rook lets you trigger sequences in real-time using a combination of four Elektron-style buttons and three potentiometers. To tighten up any performances, each note that is programmed in can be quantised for more rigid tempos and rhythms.
Focusing on playability and encouraging the users to experiment with performing in sequences as opposed to the more traditional X0X style sequencing, the Four Bricks Rook includes three potentiometers that function as the main interface of the module. The Shift potentiometer lets you switch through different segments of the sequences, the Table potentiometer allows you to chose different sequences from the memory while the Length potentiometer sets the duration of your sequence.
In addition to the three potentiometers, Four Bricks Rook features four performance pads that serve a number of different functions to give you flexible control over your sequence. By holding the function button and each of the four pads, you will change the status of the Four Bricks Rook, allowing you to perform different tasks to create and record your sequence. When in Play mode, the pads become manual triggers where you can record using the Record function. In Pattern mode, different pre-recorded patterns from the internal memory are loaded into one of the two volatile buffer memories A or B or add new triggers to the pattern by switching back to Play mode. Lastly, in Fill mode, the patterns are played back when the corresponding pad is pressed. The fourth button presented in Four Bricks Rook is the mute pad, with this you can create glitching rhythms that you can record and playback for unique and interesting sequences.
