McDSP 4040 Retro Limiter HD v7 Overview
The 4040 Retro Limiter HD v7 is a HD-ready vintage limiter plug-in which combines look-ahead functionality with McDSP's analog saturation modelling to bring you a retro character limiter. Compatible with HD formats, the 4040 Retro Limiter HD v7 can run on your host processing or the DSP processors (such as the McDSP APB or the Avid HDX) to save your system from excessive CPU. The 4040 is perfect for peak limiting on individual instruments with a layout that couldn't be simpler, so you don't have to spend all day tweaking settings and messing with control interfaces, no mess no fuss. High transient material will always benefit from the simple peak control that this ultra-low latency limiter makes easier than ever to perform. Though retro-inspired, the 4040 isn't based on any vintage hardware units meaning McDSP can give you the very un-limiter-like characteristic of sounding natural and transparent but with a vintage edge unlike anything else out there.
