A guitar designed to give you unrestrained raw power. The Gretsch G5655TG Electromatic is loaded with a pair of Filter'Tron pickups - meaning you can play at the highest volumes with perfect sound quality.
Gretsch developed the Filter'Tron pickup over 60 years ago. The majority of electric guitar pickups at the time were incapable of dealing with the louder volumes that the then-new craze of rock 'n' roll demanded. Instead, when dialing up the volume, guitars without the Filter'Tron would suffer from massive feedback and noise interference.
Then the Filter'Tron came along. This humbucking pickup meant that you could play at ear-splitting levels, while maintaining stunning clarity and definition. What's more, the Filter'Tron's unique sound is also iconic. With all the warmth of a PAF pickup, combined with the aggression and ferocity of a single coil, you'll have exhilarating, wide-reaching tone suitable for any style. Your most complete sound ever.
Totally experimental. This is a guitar that will really let you explore its sonic possibilities. A Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece allows you to add distinctive tremble to your playing to create an entirely individual soundscape.
The B70 vibrato bar lets you tweak notes and chords easily with your pick hand. Bigsby vibratos' entirely original sound and powerful strength has made them a fixture in the sound of some of the greatest musicians of all time. From Keith Richards to Jimmy Page, George Harrison to Jack White, and Eric Clapton to David Bowie, the Bigsby is the go-to for creating an entirely extraordinary sound.
A guitar that looks as though it could've been dreamt up by Michelangelo's paintbrush. The Gretsch Electromatic is the absolute pinnacle of instrumental style.
The guitar's snowy white finish is adorned with elegant "F"-shaped soundholes characteristic of the semi-hollowbody style. The pickguard, Bigsby tailpiece, control knobs, pickup switch, and tuning machines are all finished in stunning, shining gold. There's never been a guitar as elegant or as heavenly as this. One of these round your neck will command the attention of every audience member in every single live show you ever play. It has to be seen to be believed. Luxuriously beautiful, like nothing else.
Fullness in tone like you've never had before. The Electromatic's semi-hollowbody construction and long spruce centre block provide you with amazingly rich sound. Enjoy natural, acoustic-style resonance in your playing with the semi-hollowbody.
This resonance will be delivered with gorgeous clarity at high volumes. Many hollowbody electric guitars suffer from unpleasant feedback when the pickups struggle to communicate its natural resonance at high-output levels. This isn't a problem with the Gretsch Electromatic. Its solid, long, chambered spruce centre block prevents noise interference, meaning you can enjoy the guitar's beautiful tones at even the highest volume. Turn it up to 11.
Sound and playability meet in a guitar that gives you everything. You've already heard about the Electromatic's far-reaching sonic power. Not only does it have this, but it also possesses one of the most complete, enjoyable playing experiences that you're ever likely to find in a guitar.
Play with scintillating dynamism. A "U"-shaped maple neck is ideal for allowing you to play speedily. Its smooth profile means you'll glide across the frets, and solo with total freedom. Never miss a note either. 22 medium jumbo frets give you an increased playing area, making it easier to hit notes and chords. Even the most complex songs will become simple to play.
Made by manufacturers who are woven into the history of rock 'n' roll. Gretsch's iconic sound saw their guitars find the way into the hands of some of rock music's most lauded performers.
The list is staggering. Pete Townshend used one to cut Quadrophenia with The Who, as well as on their gigantic, iconic hit "Won't Get Fooled Again". George Harrison played one on a ton of Beatles material (he even used to get annoyed when John Lennon kept asking to borrow it). Neil Young. Velvet Underground. Eric Clapton. The Rolling Stones. The illustrious collection of artists who have used a Gretsch in their music reads like a who's who of music's greatest. It's about time you experienced why these marvellous guitars are considered so remarkable.
