The compact BOOM 2x2 USB Audio Interface condenses Apogee's sophisticated hardware and software into a portable and easy-to-use device. Designed in California, this interface combines high-tech and convenience. Whether you're recording your vocals over an acoustic guitar, mixing down tracks you've made in your DAW, streaming video games, or recording commentary on a documentary you're making, the Apogee Boom will deliver an impressive performance. No matter where you are, the Boom will provide you with the analog-to-digital conversion expected from top-of-the-range Apogee devices.
On the front panel are two inputs: one XLR and one 1/4 inch jack. You can utilise both at the same time, such as using an instrument and a microphone. On the back of the Apogee Boom are three 1/4 inch jack outputs, one acting as a headphone output and the other two as a left and right output to studio monitors. The USB connection port is situated on the back of the Interface next to the Headphone Jack. The Boom Audio Interface is powered by USB bus power from your computer or device meaning no external power supply is required, adding to convenience and portability.
Within the Apogee Boom are advanced hardware digital signal processors (DSP) that accurately map the analog input signal to digital form with minimal interference, giving you a clear and crisp audio pickup, true to the nature of the environment the sound originated from. Included within the Boom interface is the Symphony ECS Channel Strip which is a three-band EQ, Compressor and Saturation Plug-In, this is useful for adjusting the EQ of your sounds and adding effects both on incoming signals and to audio existing in your DAW. For streaming and recording multiple audio sources, the onboard mixer and loopback mode allows you to do this with ease.
The Apogee Boom has a durable steel body housing the inner components, with rubber pads on the underside of the interface to prevent slipping and damage. The high-quality build of the Boom ensures it has a long service life. A large ergonomic volume control knob on the front of the audio interface makes adjusting the volume to the output straightforward; this is the only control Physically on the Boom itself to reduce complication and all other controls are accessible through the device plugged into it.
