Big Beautiful Door delivers an all-in-one processing package that is suitable for a variety of uses. BBD's three-band EQs can be used in a variety of ways but really shine when used in conjunction with the gate so you can have two independent EQs that switch on and off when the sidechain signal rises above or drops below the threshold you set. As their name suggests 'Open EQ' is for when the gate is open and 'Closed EQ' is for when the gate is closed, making it easier than ever to make what would usually be tricky automation-based changes in an instant. Each band of EQ gives you separate control over the gain, frequency and bandwidth of each filter so you can start to hone in on exactly what you want to filter when the sidechain gate signal comes through.
There are a variety of uses you could put this type of processing power to such as ending the battle for low end in a mix. Too often producers will find themselves having to choose between bass, kick drum and a multitude of other low-frequency hoggers. BBD makes it possible for you to not have to choose, but get the best of both worlds. You'll now be able to have a ducking bass when the kick hits to allow for clarity that doesn't compromise the rest of your bass tone that you spent hours shaping.
Perhaps you need to isolate the vowels and consonants of a vocal track and EQ them separately, so you get natural equality across your whole mix to get it sounding better than ever, or you want to clean up those noisy guitar parts. There really is no limit to what BBD can provide and you can do it all on the fly in a matter of seconds thanks to the elementary layout that you'll be at one within no time.
BBD gives you the perfect amount of control over your processing with a control set for every aspect of your sound. A threshold slider will control the level at which your gate opens and closes, variable hysteresis control tames unwanted gate chatter with independent controls to ensure your gate acts the way you need it to, you can hide the EQ and display your input level history and displays the current state of the envelope so you know exactly how your sound is being affected in the moment and on top of all that, you are given full envelope controls with a look-ahead feature to audition without affecting the transients, especially effective when gating drums.
