The KB-1 features 2 response modes; monophonic and duophonic. The response modes feature user-selectable note priority and re-trigger options for you to customise the KB-1 to your needs. Monophonic mode allows you to play basses, leads without notes overlapping and you can customise which note becomes priority when playing, whether that be high note, low not priority the choice is yours. Its duophonic mode however, enables you to take control of two separate oscillators to create rich soundscapes, drones, pads and more.
The KB-1 allows you to easily create melodic sequences with maximum flexibility with its 10 note arpeggiator and 64 note sequencer that are both focused on playability and performance. The arpeggiator provides a wide pitch range which can cycle through 1 to 3 octaves and allows for rapid adjustment, perfect for when performing live. The arpeggiator allows you to also press in the notes and use the hold function to keep the arpeggiator playing through those notes after you have let go. Once let go you can then adjust the other parameters or make changes to the sequence whilst it's playing. There are 3 different arpeggiator modes including single or double note trigger, and random monophonic or duophonic note cycling with random gates. The probability gate burst mode is a unique feature to the KB-1 which enables you to have rolling pulses divided by the clock allowing for dramatic rhythmic variations in your sequence.
Another tool for creating sequences on the KB-1 is the 64 step sequencer packed with multiple features for experimenting and getting creative. The step sequencer includes multiple play modes including forwards, backwards or random to give you precise control over your sequence. Each step in the sequence can be modified by pitch bend, tie, single trigger, double trigger, quad trigger and whole note, and adding these in can be done manually to each note by pressing a note then a modifier. You can quickly create complex and rhythmic patterns as the KB-1 sequencer allows you to make changes on the fly such as adding in stutter or changing tempo of your sequence. You can also switch between playing forwards and backwards. Conveniently the KB-1 can be clocked internally via tempo or from an external clock source allowing you to play on your own or perform locked in time with an external device.
The KB-1 is fitted with 2 assignable trigger buttons that can be independently assigned to one of six trigger button modes including pressure sensitive pitch bend, gate, latch, enable/disable, trigger, pressure sensitive trigger burst generator, and a pressure sensitive clock divider to make the KB-1 perform how you want it. Try playing an arpeggio and then assigning the trigger button to the pitch sensitive pitch bend and hold down the trigger to change the pitch. The trigger buttons are an ideal feature for creating a creative and exciting performance.
The programmable voltage section can function in various ways. It can either function as a 4 channel sequencer, cycling forwards, backwarsd, randomly, or that active channel can be selected manually.
