Build sounds your way
The Reason Rack sits at the centre of the software, providing a flexible environment for creating instruments, effects chains, and MIDI-driven performance setups. You can start with ready-made patches or build your own combinations from scratch. Adding new devices is quick, making experimentation a natural part of the creative process. For deeper sound design, the rear panel opens up advanced audio and control voltage routing, allowing you to create complex signal paths and modulation systems. Everything is connected automatically to get you started, but you can customise the routing whenever inspiration takes you somewhere new.
Create without slowing down
Reason 14 combines powerful production tools with a workflow designed to keep ideas moving. The clip-based arranger lets you sketch songs quickly, organise projects with Track Folders, and build variations using looped clips. Track-focused navigation keeps instruments, effects, sends, and mix controls within easy reach, helping you move between writing, editing, and mixing without losing momentum. Whether you're developing a first draft or refining a finished arrangement, the layout keeps essential controls close at hand so you can stay focused on making music.
Edit performances with precision
Not just a perfect DAW for creative tools, Reason 14 excels at traditional audio editing. Detailed editing tools help you polish recordings while keeping the process straightforward. Comp Edit makes it easy to combine multiple takes into a single performance, while project-wide time stretching lets you adjust tempo after recording. Slice Edit helps tighten timing across audio parts, and Vocal Edit provides control over pitch, timing, and articulation for vocal recordings. The sampling workflow is equally direct. Record straight into compatible instruments and capture sounds as they happen, giving you an immediate way to turn ideas, found sounds, or recordings into playable instruments.
Mix with studio-style control
Reason's mixer is modelled on the SSL 9000K console, bringing familiar studio-style workflows into your productions. Each channel includes dynamics processing, EQ, routing options, automation, and effects management, giving you detailed control over every element of a mix. Plus, group channels, parallel processing options, and the master bus compressor help you shape larger projects efficiently.
What’s New in Reason 14?
Reason 14 introduces a redesigned track-focused workflow, major sequencer enhancements, and the new RV-9 Reverb Station. The new Track Panel brings your signal chain, levels, and sends directly into the sequencer, making it easier to manage sounds without switching views. You can also open the Rack from the panel to browse patches, view signal routing, and adjust devices while staying focused on your arrangement. The sequencer has been updated with Track Folders, improved clip handling, and a more intuitive piano roll, helping you organise projects and work more efficiently. A new Dark Mode is now the default across the DAW, alongside dedicated navigation buttons for key areas such as the Track Panel, Edit Area, and Groove Mixer, creating a cleaner and more consistent workspace. Workflow improvements include automatic tempo detection for imported audio and MIDI note chase, helping ideas stay moving without interruption. Building on the RV7000 reverb, an all-new reverb has been included. The new RV-9 Reverb Station features nine reverb algorithms, covering realistic spaces, granular textures, spectral processing, and ambient echo effects for both natural and experimental sounds. Reason 14 also expands its content library with over 900 new drum samples, 50 new Europa patches, and 20 additional RV7000 impulse responses, giving you more sounds to explore straight away.
