Create freely inside your DAW
Reason Rack 14 runs as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin, letting you use Reason’s modular production environment inside virtually any major DAW. Regardless if you work in Ableton Live, Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio, or another compatible host, the Rack integrates directly into your projects. Instruments, effects, and utilities can be loaded into a familiar hardware-style layout, while device reordering automatically updates signal flow. This keeps the workflow intuitive and lets you focus on creating sounds rather than adapting to a new recording environment. The floating Rack window also stays accessible when needed without interrupting your session.
Patch and route without limits
Turn the Rack around and you'll find one of its most distinctive features: the patch bay. Every compatible device includes virtual inputs and outputs that can be connected however you choose. Audio signals can be split, merged, routed through feedback paths, or sent between multiple processors. Unlike traditional plugin chains, signal flow isn't restricted to a fixed structure. This flexibility opens the door to unusual effects chains, layered processing techniques, and experimental sound design approaches that would otherwise require far more complex setups.
Bring sounds to life with CV
Reason Rack 14 extends creative control through comprehensive CV routing and modulation. LFOs, envelopes, step sequencers, and other modulation sources can control parameters across different devices within the Rack. You can use rhythmic modulation to shape filters, automate effects movement, or create evolving textures that constantly change over time. Because modulation isn't confined to a single instrument or effect, complex interactions are easy to build.
Build custom instruments with Combinator
Combinator allows multiple Rack devices to be combined into a single instrument or effects processor. Layer synths, stack effects, create performance rigs, or design complex processing chains, then control them through custom macro assignments and modulation routings. Once built, these creations can be saved, recalled, automated, and reused in future projects just like any other plugin preset. Alongside 68 included devices and a library of over 30,000 searchable sounds, Combinator gives you a practical way to turn detailed setups into streamlined creative tools that are ready whenever inspiration strikes.
